Saint Apaly Ibn Yostos
He was the royal prince of the Roman Empire. He declared his Christianity infront of Dikledianos; rejecting his throne preferring the heavenly Kingdom . He was exiled to Alexandria together with his father "Yostos" and his mother "Theokalia". The governer tortured him, beat him, cut off his extermities, and burned parts of his flesh. The governer failed, and noticed that many had turned to Christianity. Thanks to the saint's ardent faith, and firm belief in Jesus Christ. Eventually his head was cut off. In the tenth century a church was built in Deir El-Khandaq, and was named "Saint Apaly church". But it was destroyed about a century later. |
