Cathedral

St.Mark Cathedral

The first Dine Liturgy held in it was on June 24, 1968 to celebrate the nineteen hundredth anniversary of the Evangelist's martyrdom. Immediately below the Sancturary is a Reliquary of St. Mark. Its walls are adorned with icons from the Greart Apostle's life. Thanks for H. H. Pope Shenoda The 3rd, the slender minaret of the new cathedral was erected, and bells were hung high in this minaret. The offices, and administration building were built around these minaret.

It should also be noted that below the Sanctuary of the Grand Cathedral, are the out two churches; the Blessed Virgin and Abba Roweis, and one after the Blessed Virgin and Abba Pishoi. Between the churches is the shrine in which reposes Abba Samuel of Blessed Memory, and Fr. Mikhail Ibrahim, called by the Copts "Mikhail the Great". For his numerous services and for his spirituality. Facing these is a Shrine for Abba Athanasuis the Apostolic.

And here is the Wonder; namely that Abba Rewase is a glittering Picture of God's appreciation. These grand buildings have an international, interchurch reputation; and they all stand on "the Abba Rewase Ground". Thus, his name rings across the continents. While he was on earth, he was destitute, disdained, and persecuted; now his name reverberates with honour, centuries after his death. How wonderful is God's work in His saints; and how Glorious in those who love Him!
